To close out Fashion Art Toronto’s 1664 Fashion Week, Liminul Magazine joined forces with Matières Fécales, Fashion Art Toronto, Lignes de Fuite, and Combo Breaker Toronto to present NEVER CONFORM II, an afterparty that exhilarated Toronto’s underground fashion community. Held at Future Toronto, it was an immersive celebration of disruption and artistry, merging music, fashion, and experimental visuals into a transformative experience.
Headlining the night were Montreal native duo Matières Fécales—the avant-garde powerhouses known for their post-human aesthetics and boundary-pushing fashion. Comprised of Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, the duo has garnered international acclaim for challenging traditional ideas of beauty and identity through their dystopian, sci-fi-inspired creations. Their collaborations with icons like Rick Owens, Madonna, and Jean Paul Gaultier have cemented their reputation as innovators at the intersection of art and fashion.
For NEVER CONFORM II, Matières Fécales took their vision to new heights with a DJ set and a live performance of their single “DIE WITH YOU”, a haunting collaboration with techno artist Enham. The performance, paired with immersive visuals by George Fok, captivated the audience and set the tone for an evening that celebrated nonconformity.
The event featured a meticulously curated lineup of Toronto’s most exciting artists:
- @venusinfoil at 10 PM
- @r_od3rick at 11 PM
- @stashole at 12 AM
- @matièresfécales DJ set + live at 1 AM
- @angelphroot at 2 AM
- @emryslazuli at 3 AM
Each performance brought its unique energy, creating a seamless blend of experimental techno, hardstyle, and psy-trance.
Beyond the music, the party offered an immersive artistic experience, with visuals by George Fok, a frequent collaborator of Lignes de Fuite, whose work added an atmospheric depth to the event, painting the room with arresting post-human AI video art. The venue itself was transformed into a visual narrative that celebrated creative disruption and innovation, embodying the spirit of Fashion Art Toronto’s mission to bridge the gap between art and fashion.
NEVER CONFORM II marked a powerful conclusion to 1664 Fashion Week, showcasing the best of Toronto’s creative community alongside trailblazers like Matières Fécales. From its audacious performances to its thought-provoking visuals, the night stood as a testament to the transformative power of art, music, and fashion.
