Introducing “DOG / MEETS / CHAINSAW”, an editorial project created by Montreal-based creative director and stylist Rym Guimili, in collaboration with a talented team of local artists. Inspired by the manga series Chainsaw Man by Tatsuki Fujimoto, this project is an exploration of the emotional journey of a young man seeking solace through violence, ultimately leading to his dehumanization.
Rym Guimili’s love for manga, anime, and video games is evident in the styling and concept of this project. Each outfit, custom-designed by Rémi Van Bochove and Rym Guimili, is meticulously styled and paired with unique accessories, including a custom H.R. Giger necklace by Paul Edward and rings/choker by Ulysse D.
The talented team involved in the project includes photographer Feng Jiang, styling assistant Parker Nickerson, model Sam Brown from Public Image Management, hair and makeup artist Cynthia Bouchard, costume/suit designer Rémi Van Bochove, sculpture and design creator Mariam Rabia, and nail artist Rosalee Phan. Set assistants Jennifer Eid, Joman Baku, Camron Brown, and Kolyanne Yorn helped bring Rym’s vision to life.
In this editorial, Guimili explores the concept of self-fulfillment gone wrong and the question of whether the ends justify the means. They poses the question, “What happens if someone loses themselves in the process of obtaining what they yearn for?” Through their stylistic choices and collaboration with local artists, they create a character arc that is both visually stunning and emotionally evocative.
