NEVER CONFORM II: THE OFFICIAL FASHION ART TORONTO AFTER PARTY

To close out Fashion Art Toronto’s 1664 Fashion Week, Liminul Magazine joined forces with Matières Fécales, Fashion Art Toronto, Lignes de Fuite, and Combo Breaker Toronto to present NEVER CONFORM II, an afterparty that exhilarated Toronto’s underground fashion community. Held at Future Toronto, it was an immersive celebration of disruption and artistry, merging music, fashion, and experimental visuals into a transformative experience.

Headlining the night were Montreal native duo Matières Fécales—the avant-garde powerhouses known for their post-human aesthetics and boundary-pushing fashion. Comprised of Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, the duo has garnered international acclaim for challenging traditional ideas of beauty and identity through their dystopian, sci-fi-inspired creations. Their collaborations with icons like Rick Owens, Madonna, and Jean Paul Gaultier have cemented their reputation as innovators at the intersection of art and fashion.

For NEVER CONFORM II, Matières Fécales took their vision to new heights with a DJ set and a live performance of their single “DIE WITH YOU”, a haunting collaboration with techno artist Enham. The performance, paired with immersive visuals by George Fok, captivated the audience and set the tone for an evening that celebrated nonconformity.

The night pulsed with an electrifying lineup of Toronto’s most forward-thinking artists, each performance seamlessly building on the last to create a sonic journey through experimental techno, hardstyle, and psy-trance. Venus in Foil set the tone with hypnotic intensity, followed by R_od3rick’s raw, visceral soundscapes. Stashole pushed the night into harder territory, leading into a feverish peak as Matières Fécales took over with a boundary-defying DJ set and live performance, bending time and space into a surreal, sonic spectacle. Angelphroot followed with an immersive, genre-warping set, while Emrys Lazuli closed the night, sending the crowd into the final stretch of euphoric release.

Beyond the music, the event was an immersive artistic experience. Visuals by George Fok, a frequent collaborator of Lignes de Fuite, drenched the space in arresting post-human AI video art, adding an atmospheric depth that blurred the line between digital and physical reality. Photographed by Kian Gannon, the venue itself became a living canvas, a reflection of Fashion Art Toronto’s ethos of creative disruption, where art and fashion converged in a shared visual language.

NEVER CONFORM II closed 1664 Fashion Week with unapologetic audacity, cementing itself as more than just a party—it was a statement. From its fearless performances to its thought-provoking visuals, the night stood as a testament to the transformative power of art, music, and fashion, proving once again that the underground is where the future takes shape.
