Los Angeles-based Indonesian photographer Auli Sinaga‘s photography is filled with rage. “If you see me, a small Asian woman, you would never depict me as an angry person. You’d think small and cute. However, all the photos in this series have a piece of my anger attached to them. The concept of this series is a demonstration of how I’ve used photography to release all forms of negative emotions into beauty. I’ve asked myself how I can photograph beautiful people, amazing colors all the while having hate in my heart? Each time I photograph, it’s like my anger directly transfers to the photograph. Idyllic shows how I’ve been able to have the courage to closely study my negative emotions and turn them into art. It’s about balance. I can’t stand the constant need for love, peace, and positivity. I need both.”
