Undeniably, bagels have become a symbol of Montreal culture, and a point of great contention for New York Bagel lovers (Montreal bagels are superior FYI), but what if eating them isn’t enough to express one’s love for Montreal’s most famed alimentary export? Fret not, fans can now wear shoes tailored to their tastes thanks to Nike’s latest Dunk Low release. Colloquially, The Montreal Bagel Nike.
Sporting sesame seeds sprinkled all across, the kicks look, well, like a bagel.
“You know the saying: The sweeter the bagel, the sweeter the dunk,” the description reads on Nike’s website. “Bringing fresh-baked style to the streets, this delicacy of a design rings you in with carb-lover colors, plus a pinch of Montreal blue for an extra shout-out to the city from la belle province. Garnished with sesame seed graphics and finished with a gum-colored sole, it’s satisfyingly easy to style—‘cause everything goes better on top of a bagel.”
According to Sole Collector, the shoes will be available on Jan. 17 at 10:00 a.m. via SNKRS. Currently, the SNKRS app isn’t available in Canada and isn’t listed as an upcoming release on the Canadian SNKRS website either.
Off The Hook in Montreal, however, is Nike’s official partner and will have an exclusive early access launch of the sneakers on Jan. 13. In celebration, the brand has created a promotional video paying homage to Montreal’s morning bagel routines.
The “Montreal Bagel” Nike dunk lows will retail for $160 CAD and be available to the general public at Off the Hook on Jan. 13. All pairs in Canada come packaged in a Canada-exclusive custom box designed in collaboration with artist Chien Champion.
