Often perceived as an element of constraint linked to the work environment, Polimoda Fashion student Sofia Piras reimagines the suit as a garment that unifies rather than subsumes. Exploring the ways in which quintessential workwear has become obsolete in the post-COVID cultural landscape, Piras wants to reinvent the workwear staple.
“I want to change the perception of the suit freeing it from any constraint to make it an individualizing garment. To do this I destroyed the original meaning linked to the suit, alternating the visual appearance of the garment. To give a completely new meaning to the outfit, I play on volumes by changing the fitting to make it a contemporary and comfortable element.”
